Hi everyone:
Many years ago, one of my five sons (my oldest) decided to start calling me “Old Guy”. I wasn’t very old at the time . . . maybe forty-five years old or so. Today I am sixty-eight (sort of an “old guy”, but I don’t feel old yet, and I look pretty good too!). Anyway, that term has morphed into OG for my grandkids, and now my kids are calling me that too.
The wisdom that I have imparted to those kids over the years is now called OG’s Truth–and so this blog is dedicated to those kids and grandkids and to a truth that has the benefit of some experience and age. On this site I will be sharing my thoughts regarding just about everything. I think these days there’s a lot of confusion about what’s going on (especially among our younger generations), so my goal is to cut through some of the nonsense and get to the truth. My “truth” is colored by my Christianity, so sometimes you may notice that something Jesus said may show up, but this is not a Christian blog. I want it to be for everyone who is searching for the truth like I am. However, this blog will be focused on my two favorite synonyms for Jesus–Truth and Love. I especially love my Lord, my family, and my country.
Of course I don’t know everything. I say it this way: when I was a young dude growing up on the beaches of Southern California, I could lick the tip of my finger and and dip it in the sand. The grains that stuck to my finger represented the stuff I actually knew. Then you could look up and down the miles of beach and see the rest of the sand. Those grains of sand on the rest of the beach represented what I didn’t know yet. Today, I can pick up a fistful of sand, and what doesn’t slip through my fingers is what I know . . . and then there’s the rest of the beach. I don’t know much, but I know some things.
I want to hear from you when I discuss truth vs lies. Sometimes, there will be an obvious truth. Sometimes, there will be an obvious lie. And sometimes, it will be unclear because we don’t know what the truth is yet. We will look for it together.
There will be no room for hate on this site. We can have varying opinions, and we will, but if you get hateful you’re out. Let’s keep it clean and respectful . . . like we actually care about each other, even when we differ. Remember, I’m an old guy, and you don’t want to give me a heart attack.
Blessings to all of you out there. My first post is coming up . . .
